Oktoberfest Triple Threat - Godfather's Pizza, Beck's and Spoetzl Shiner

October. A month that was meant for Metalheads. From the beginning of the death of bright and sunny summer, to the holiday we do best, to a kickass videogame that was launched this month (and even the day was perfect for the occasion), . While the aforementioned is all the credentials October has for being a Metal month, there is one holiday that pushes its credentials over-the-top, and it's Oktoberfest.

This is the month the southern part of Germany (as well as many other parts of the world willing to participate) celebrates its most infamous holiday, and being the most Metal country in the world, it makes perfect sense for Metalheads to celebrate this month with the same kind of passion (its called drinking plenty of beers, something we are good at).

Today's post focuses on 3 tributes this month and holiday can only offer, The Oktoberfest Triple Threat, courtesy of Godfather's Pizza, Beck's and Spoetzl Brewery.

This started during one fateful visit to my local Hess Express (a local gas station with a convenience store and some fast food restaurants within its confines. One of the restaurants is the aforementioned Godfather's Pizza, and its unique offering to the world, its Oktoberfest Pizza. The sign below is the beginning of an "Avengers" like epic saga.

The Avengers are now assembled, but first the back story how they got together. When I discovered this unique pizza, I also remembered Beck's had their own Oktoberfest variation of beer (no surprise considering where they are from, even though they in the northern part of Germany) and picked up a 6 pack, but as fate would have it once again, I went to a local Publix and found Spoetzl's answer to the Oktoberfest holiday, and the trifecta was now in place (plus a good night of eatin' and drinkin').

Some history is in order with regards to Spoetzl's connection with the holiday. The brewery was founded in a community of Czech, Austrian and German immigrants (hence the connection), and came into existence around the time of Prohibition, further cementing its status amongst beer lovers as a renegade that refused to die.

Letting you know what's inside and why.

At 5.7% ABV, its a beer with a light punch, its texture is considerably "spicier" and "more herbal" than its flagship counterpart. The taste has a tendency to dance (more like mosh considering this is a Metal Blog) in your mouth, and provides a light dark flavor. Overall a good beer representing Oktoberfest in the best way possible.

Next on the list of Metal beers is Beck's Oktoberfest edition. The story of Beck's and Heavy Metal is one that is intertwined in history, and this is a beverage worthy of the Metal colors by doubling up as Beck's official answer to the holiday.

With 5% ABV, its another beer that will do some damage, but what it lacks in the wallop more than makes up for it in the taste and texture. Think about drinking a regular Beck's, but darken the color by about 2 or 3 decibels, than throw in some herbs that give it a dry texture, with Beck's legendary smoothness, and you got a beverage that doubles its Metal credentials.

It's now time to talk about the headliner of this post, Godfather's Oktoberfest Pizza. As said before, pizza is a food that is found in a typical Metalheads diet in great quantity. Let's break down the ingredients that were needed to make this pie happen: the usual dough for the bread, mozzarella cheese (these last 2 are as typical in pizza as it gets), slices of bratwurst, sauerkraut, onions and spicy mustard (the last 4 are as usual as it gets in any Oktoberfest festivities).

Take note there is no tomato sauce to be found in this pizza.

Further evidence proving the unique approach Godfather's has with this pizza.

As for the taste? It is surprisingly good considering the ingredients (and the lack of one specific ingredient), the way how it comes together, and with beer (especially if your buzzed or drunk) gives it a kick in the taste department to volume "elf" (in Deutsch).

This is one Oktoberfest for the Metal history books \m/
